Shan Koe Mee is a traditional Myanmar card game usually played with a standard 52-card deck. Each player is dealt 3 cards, and the score is determined by the units digit of the total. For example: 7 + 9 + 6 = 22, so the score is 2. The highest score is 9, and a score of zero is called a "Bust".
Step-by-step gameplay
- The Banker deals 3 cards to each player
- Each player places a bet to beat the Banker's score
- The highest card score wins — the Banker must beat all players
- Players can take turns holding the Banker position
- Players who tie with the Banker — the Banker wins on a tie
Special cards and bankroll management
Certain high-value hands — such as a score of 9 using combinations like 3 and 6, or 2 and 7, across 3 cards — are called "Shan", a term shared with Thai card game terminology. A 3-card Shan hand scoring 9 can be declared immediately. Any player whose 3 cards score 9 against the Banker can take the Banker position.
